Hey everyone,
I’ve had my Genesis GV70 3.5T for three years now, still love it as much as the day I picked it up in Cardiff Green with the beige interior! That said, I’m starting to second-guess some of the decisions I made at purchase time and could really use your advice.
When I bought the car, I caved and signed up for the extended service packages and some sort of electronics warranty (I can’t even remember the details). Now I’m wondering if I can cancel those and get a refund, or at least part of it. Anyone know if that’s possible?
Also, a couple of specific questions:
Extended Service Package: The dealer made it sound like this would cover premium service items in addition to the basics like tire rotations and oil changes. But it’s starting to look like I got upsold for something I don’t need. If I cancel, what do you guys think I’d end up paying for routine maintenance outside the dealership? Is it even worth going to an independent shop?
3-Year Service Costs: I just had my 3-year service (28k miles), and they talked me into a throttle body cleaning, brake fluid replacement, and some other stuff. That bill came out to around $1,500. Apparently, this service is usually done at 36k miles or the 3-year mark, so I went along with it. Did I mess up by agreeing to it? Would it have been better to get this done elsewhere for cheaper?
For context, I live in an apartment, so I don’t have the space or tools to do more complicated DIY stuff beyond things like wiring dashcams or changing wheels.
Any advice or shared experiences would be much appreciated!
