Hey everyone, I’ve been enjoying my GV70 3.5T for almost three years now and I’m at nearly 32k miles. Took it in for service recently, and the dealership is recommending a transmission oil change, but the quote they gave me was $790! This isn’t even a full flush, just a replacement.

I checked the GV70 manual, and I couldn’t find any mention of routine transmission oil changes, which makes me wonder:
  • What’s the recommended interval for replacing transmission fluid on the GV70?
  • Is $790 reasonable, or should I look for alternatives?
  • Has anyone had this done outside of the dealership? If so, what did it cost and where did you get it done?
  • Lastly, does anyone know the OEM brand of transmission fluid used in the GV70?
Would love to hear what others have experienced, since i'm not sure about the prices on this.

If you’re into DIY, transmission fluid replacement isn’t too tough if you’ve got the tools and time. The GV70 likely uses SP-IV-RR fluid, which you can order online, but double-check your specific model first. You’ll need to get the car on jack stands or a lift and follow the drain-and-fill process. That said, $790 still sounds like too much for a simple replacement, might be worth finding a good independent shop if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself. You can start tinkering with your own car.
