Disconnect battery or trickle charger? I'm planning a long trip and need some advice on storing my Genesis GV70. I'm thinking about either disconnecting the battery or using a trickle charger. What do you guys think is the best option for long-term storage?

So how long are we looking at here - 2 months, 6 months, or maybe even more? Is there someone who could take charge of starting and driving it every couple of weeks? Regular use is crucial, otherwise, you'll end up with flat-spotted tires that might get ruined beyond repair after sitting for too long.

So, if you disconnect the battery, that prevents any drain, BUT it means you will have to reset everything once you reconnect it. I guess you don't want some extra hassle.
Using a trickle charger is a great way to maintain the battery's charge without the need for disconnection. Just make sure it is a smart charger that can prevent overcharging.

Now, here comes the important part, and @GuestIGuess pointed it out well enough. Are you looking at a storage period of a few months or longer?

A trickle charger is probably your best bet, it keeps the battery topped off and avoids the hassle of resetting electronics when you reconnect the battery later. Look for one with a smart charging feature to prevent overcharging. If you go the battery disconnect route, just make sure to note down any settings you might need to reprogram when you’re back!

Let everyone know how long you'll be storing your EV so we can give the best advice on battery care and maintenance. For long storage, you may need to charge it to a certain level or use a trickle charger.

Our storage recommendation depends on how long you're away. You’ve probably already returnd by now, so I’d love to hear what storage options you ended up using.
