It’s a total disaster backing up my boat trailer earlier today! The brakes kept freaking out, and I kept getting this super annoying warning message. The noise was so deafening I couldn’t even hear my son yelling directions. Anyone else dealt with this before? The manual’s saying to turn off the cross-traffic alert when towing but I’m not convinced that’s the magic fix. Got any tips?

Did your trailer have surge brakes or what? These bad boys use the backup light signal to let go of the trailer brakes when you’re backing up. If something’s up with that circuit, it could totally explain why the brakes kept freaking out.

I have run into a similar issue with trailer brakes before, haha. The cross-traffic alert can definitely mess with your system when you are towing. Turning it off might seem like a simple fix, but it is worth trying before diving into something more complicated.
Have you checked to see if the trailer's brake light connection is solid? That can also cause unexpected brake issues when backing up. I hope this helps, and let us know if you find a solution.
