Why Doesn’t My GV70 GPS Show Traffic All the Time?

I’ve got this little glitch with the gps map on my GV70. It only shows road traffic when I’ve got a destination or route plugged in. I;ve seen other GV70s where the traffic map is up and running all the time, even if they haven’t set a route. Any idea what’s up with that or how I can get mine to do the same?

It looks like your nav system’s on the fritz. Is it crazy slow to find your route when you first plug it in too?
